Santa Ana Winds Expected This Week.
Gusts Could Hit 50MPH

Residents in Southern California are preparing for the arrival of the Santa Ana winds, which are expected to start on Wednesday and continue into Thursday morning. The National Weather Service has warned of the potential for strong gusts, with some areas possibly experiencing winds over 50 mph, although there is still uncertainty about the peak speeds. The winds are due to a decrease in atmospheric heights and thickness and are being influenced by an eastward-moving trough. The change will shift the winds from westerly to a northeast direction. The NAM12/WRF model hints at the possibility of a significant Santa Ana event particularly affecting Orange, San Bernardino, and Riverside Counties, though meteorologists are cautious and predict a 30-40% chance of this strong event, with a moderate event more likely. The onset of the winds is expected to bring cooler temperatures, followed by milder days and cool nights into the weekend. Officials encourage people to stay informed on the weather developments.

Rancho Cucamonga City Manager Gets A Bump In Pay

In a decision reached at its November 1 meeting, the City Council of Rancho Cucamonga has approved a 5% salary increment for City Manager John Gillison, an adjustment that is to take effect at the start of the following week.

The enhancement in remuneration, effective from Monday, November 6, will see Gillison’s monthly earnings rise by $1,466, culminating in a new salary of $30,133 per month. This follows a 2.5% cost-of-living adjustment bestowed upon him in July, which had previously augmented his monthly salary to $28,667, as detailed by city spokesperson Jennifer Camacho-Curtis.

Gillison, who has been a member of the city’s administrative team since 2007, ascended to the role of city manager in June 2011 after serving as assistant city manager. The recent increase in Gillison's compensation is projected to add an annual expense of $26,388 to the city's fiscal outlay, according to a report prepared by the city for the November 1 assembly.

Tequila Ocho - An Agave Tasting Room Experience

When you’re with us, you’re always with friends. Join us Thursday, November 9, from 5 – 9 pm for a special tasting event hosted by Tequila Ocho. Tequila Ocho offers a collection of artisanal, small-batch tequila from the highlands of Jalisco. Co-founder and master distiller Carlos Camarena is a 5th generation agave farmer and 3rd generation teqiulero. In fact, it was his great-grandfather who was credited with bringing blue agave to the Highlands of Jalisco, an incredible feat for tequileros in Mexico.

For this tasting, we are showcasing their Blanco, Reposado and Anejo tequilas. The Blanco features full and complex cooked agave notes, developing front to back with notes of fresh cut grass and a touch of earthiness. The Reposado featues sweet cooked agave notes that shine through while balancing with sweet spice, cinnamon and delicate notes of vanilla. The Anejo offers complex cooked agave notes with dark cacao, coffee, nutmeg, dried fruits and salted caramel.

Reserve your spot today and don't miss your chance to learn more about the aroma, body, finish and more on these special tequilas!

34 Suspects Arrested In Connection With Organized Retail Theft in Rancho

In a concerted effort to combat retail theft, law enforcement officials in Rancho Cucamonga have apprehended 34 individuals over a span of three months, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department disclosed.

From late July through early November, the city's Retail Theft team, comprising deputies from the Rancho Cucamonga station, engaged in five specialized enforcement operations, which were carried out alongside their routine patrols of the city's commercial zones. These operations were collaborative ventures, with deputies joining forces with loss prevention personnel and store management to pinpoint and apprehend those engaged in theft at various retail establishments.

Throughout these targeted efforts, officers arrested individuals on charges that included burglary, grand theft, robbery, and petty theft, successfully retrieving approximately $50,000 worth of stolen goods which were subsequently restored to the businesses.

A number of the detainees have been identified as members of organized theft rings, responsible for a series of retail crimes across Southern California. The cases tied to these suspects are now with the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office, awaiting charges and prosecution.

The operation spanned a variety of prominent retail outlets such as Sephora, Target, Macy’s, Lululemon, and Walmart, among others, marking a significant stride in addressing retail crime in the region.
